I see a lot of sites boasting 'XXX,XXX" indexed pages, but I don't really see the value of having such a large number of indexed pages if they provide no value in and of themselves. Does having more indexed pages have any benefit on the other pages of your site, or is it just more content to be linked to?
there is no relation of number of pages and ranking, if u have more products than u need to create more pages. but one thing is there, we have to take care that all pages must have unique title and mata tags.
i agree with this... having unique title and meta on different pages could be a lot of help on your rankings...
If the pages are full of crap content, then NO they wont do anything better.. BUT, if the pages do serve its visitors with decent content, Then phenomenon is simple.. Its just like the surface Area example, Easier to burn a twig of wood with a single matchstick, but not so easy for the Big log of wood with the same single match stick.. Means, the more the pages are indexed, the more exposure the site gets, the more are the chances of its pages to show up in SERPS. and the more of the website's surface area is exposed for rankings..
