Pages in URL still don't understand

    I did a search and read some old posts but still don't understand how this works.

    If pages in URL means the amount of pages that google has indexed than why does the keywordtracker say I have 4030. And when I do a site search on google http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=site:www.chemicalforums.com it gives 57,900 ? This refers to the site in my sig.


    Can somone clear this up for me?
