So in the last 3-4 days, I have noticed a progressive decrease in the number of pages my website has indexed. It has dropped off 2-3 each day. I haven't changed anything..just recently switched to a new, faster VPS server two weeks ago..but nothing really to my actual content. Just a couple blog posts. Is this directly related to the new Caffeine part of the algorithm? Or am I being penalized for something else? It is quite frustrating when this happens and I have no clue why. Any help or tips would be nice.
This is not about the current caffeine update on Google but it is about their indexing process acting weird lately. I have seen many websites, including some big one with a high quality link profile is still has this similar problem. However, most of those de-indexed page would come back soon. I would recommend you not worry too much as long as your ranking is stable. Keep go on with link building / fresh contents would be a better idea.
one of my sites gets no visitors from google in the last 30 hours ! and it used to get like 2000 daily .i don't know what's wrong.just stopped.
So far I haven't seen any decrease in visitors, but I am fearful that that may be the case if this keeps up. One thing I can think of that may be an issue is about a month and a half ago I changed by permalink structure to better reflect the website. However, I think that issue would have been cleared up by now. I have been hearing from a lot of other webmasters that they are having the same issue...so I wonder if Google will make mention of it soon.
I think that it definitely is a Caffeine issue and that there are big problems with the rollout still. They've been trying to get it right for 3 months now. I would not be surprised to see another roll back.
even my site is facing the ssame problem since april 1 , and i moved to a faster vps server too :/ , griffint give me updates with your site
I'll be sure to give updates as I monitor Webmaster Tools and other issues. My rankings have been bouncing around a lot the past couple of days too..don't think that has to do with Caffeine since it goes about how things are indexed..but it may have something to do with it.
