Pages de-indexed...

Today I noticed one of my sites that normally has around 30k pages indexed dropped off to 948.... why would that happen? I mean seriously nothing has changed.

I know others have experienced this... what happened? Did they pick back up?

That's very normal to search engine. Just wait and it will come back soon.

If there google thinks some of the pages were duplicate content, then it normally doesn't show them.

Google normally 'omits' results that were/are almost similar and gives an option to query to display the result with omitted results included.

Having said this, I've personally never experienced 30K to 1K anytime before.
Other possibility is that its currently not reading all the data centers. I'm just guessing here :)

    All Success,
    ~G

The worst panic is when the index page suddenly drops out of the index completely for a day or two.
