What form of ‘auto-generated’? Like auto generated content? Or content pulled from a DB?

Are the pages in the SI (supp index) still in existence? Or are these pages no longer around?

You need to use the ‘page removal tool’ if you really want to get rid of them, (twice, every 6 months).

Indexation relies on a few factors, the greatest being backlinks and the second being content (IMHO). How are tings in that dept?

Some on is playing with the knobs or you’re hitting different DCs from the sounds of it. A web page is a web page, if it’s the home page on an article, rank it the same… if you have no Back Links to the article it will likely drop our and eventully ‘go supplemental’. The core site authority will help some, in the end you need to target/rank that page as you would any other.

These are pages pulled from a DB. The pages that are in the supplemental results are those with session ID's. These pages do still exist, the problem is that the same page may be showing up 30 times with the session ID's being the only thing that is different.

Where do I find he 'page removal tool'?

Content is good and growing as is backlinks which is an ongoing process.

    Hi there….

Ok, Google doesn’t like canonical URLs, especially ones with more than 3 parameters, 10 characters or with the ‘?’ . You will need to put some ‘mod rewrites’ in place to deal with the situation (mod/301 redirect).

These files/pages would not trigger any kind of penalty to reduce your indexation though.

    Your main concerns to get out of the SI are;

    1. Canonical URLs
    2. Unique page titles and descriptions

Once you solve those problems, you will be able to see if that was it, or if there are oter factors (hard to say without seeing the site

Are the pages going away, or just getting put into supplementals?

I am experiencing similar problems with one of my customers at the moment I think Iv'e got all of his new pages indexed and then bang the next day they disapeer again, the site is only about a year old though and I think it could be sandboxed.

It looks like the number of my pages indexed by Google doubled yesterday. Unfortunately, none of the article pages were returned.

These pages have totally disappeared out of the index.

Frankly speaking, it's just Google altering its algorithm.... they are constantly doing changes to it....

If you are talking about Google that is normal since they are crazy and recently garbage pages are ranking above core domain names.

I have a uniqe dot.COM PR5 that appears after 5 pages of garbage links hijacking my metatags at the top of it

I no longer obsess over Google and if you do it everyday you might as well prepare to get medical help. For instance, one of my websites with close to 1,000 pages has gone all the way from 60 pages to 900 pages and anywhere in between. Go figure!
