Does the PageRank influence the position of a site in a search engine (google)?

    Regards

Yes... page rank influence to the position of a site in Google Search search result. to get higher Page rank you need more and more dofollow backlinks.

Nope. I've seen a lot of web pages with less PR ranking over web pages with greater PR. This is because the PR of the web page is not directly a factor of its placement but the summation of link weight it has gathered from web pages linking to it with good link juice contribution.

Another thing to note is that, the green bar indicator is periodically updated, thus you can't really tell that a web page having PR 0 is really PR 0 (if we are to compute on its current link weight summation [which is a factor pushing it up] gathered from its backlinks.)

    A Big fat lazy NO.
This will always be disputed but I page rank only helps others connecting to your site. It does nothing for your website.

You can have a page rank of 0 and out rank websites with page rank of 6, I have done it countless times.

No, Not at all. Some time low page rank sites got first place in SERP. its all depends on keyword focusing on back link creation.

i agree with vijay, pr and serps ranking have no relation to each other. both of it have its own purpose.

No...page rank does not affect your search engine ranking. I've seen sites with PR 0 at the top of the search engine rankings. Focus on getting a higher search engine ranking, instead of a higher page rank. Being higher in the search engine results is what's going to drive up your traffic.

PageRank itself doesn't but the number of backlinks from related and authority websites does influence how a site ranks in Google. Keep in mind though that is only one of more than 100+ factors that Google uses to determine how to rank a website.

Yes, certainly. Page rank not only influences the position in the search pages of a search engine but also drives good traffic to your site.

People tends to misunderstand PageRank. :)

PageRank is STILL a ranking factor. :) However, the question would be how heavy is the gravity of PageRank and it's effect on rankings? The answer would then be, not that much or in other words PageRank is just 1 strand of hair out of the 100,000 strands of hair in your head. Here's a quote from SEOmoz and PageRank wiki.

    SEOmoz
    http://www.seomoz.org/blog/what-is-pagerank-good-for-anyway-statistics-galore

    PageRank Wikipedia
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PageRank

Just be careful and don't get yourself addicted to PageRank and you'll be fine.

    Hope this proves useful.

Ya sure pagerank does influence your site ranking and search ranking in google, but the other way page rank is only a mere number which displays good ness of your site and which attracts advertisers

    Hi,

In my own experiences, PR is only a ranking factor among about 200 factors. But, a higher PR site would usually have better back links structure and better contents. This would be really helpful for ranking purpose if you could targeted right keywords also.

    have a nice day,

PageRank is a factor that Google takes into account. However, they have not updated their public PR listing in close to a year, so it is very inaccurate. Moz PA/DA is a much better indicator.

Absolutely not, PR won't influence search engine ranking position of a website. What it controls the ranking position is content. A website with quality content always stay top in the search results where the website's bounce rate, daily unique visits and everything will be taken in to account.
