Simple Fact = Traffic is King ! you can have a PR10 site but without traffic what is it going to do ?
Without traffic a site is nothing its the life blood of a site,i have a couple of sites with PR but hardly any revenue.
definitely the traffic. The only reason we want high pr is because we generally rank better in the search engines which gives us more traffic.
In your scenario: I'll choose traffics. 1,000 uniques - only if the traffics flow is stable. However, on a different angle point of view... For a stable flow of 1,000 real unique visitors, I would trade off 3 points on my Google PR; but if you're talking about sudden spike, then Google PR is better since it shows the potential of a site to improve in term of SE ranking. People who choose PR over traffics (which I dont see any here) is as well choosing about traffics (confusing?) - they simply think one step forward - Google PR > SE ranking > traffics = cash = king. I hope my reply is not too confusing.
PR is just the importance that Google feels for your page. Else traffic in a website is more important. I have a website with pr0 making $1000 per month another one with pr1 making average $300. What will you choose? Logical right? Cheers!
I agree. Having a page rank is nice to look at, but it does not have the appeal of lots of traffic. WITHOUT TRAFFIC - you have NOTHING, no sales, autotraffic@automaticwebtraffic.com http://www.automaticwebtraffic.com
The reason for that is that clickthroughs from other sites don't create any conversions for me. People may click the link, but they don't want to buy the product because they wern't looking for it. The link just caught their interest. My traffic comes through highly specific keywords in google and that is why I would rather have PR links to my site. I get higher serps that way.
But if you read the question, you may have other ideas, because it is not just about whether traffic or PR is better.
IMO - both are important. My point is - HOW DO YOU GET TRAFFIC? While social bookmarking and other activities will send some instant traffic, traffic exchange or buying traffic is not really a viable option in the long run. For long term and sustained traffic - one needs to create quality contents, build links and so on. All these will ultimately lead to the SAME thing - PR. And with time - this will lead to the ULTIMATE -- SERP. Organic traffic is what I want because the conversion is of high quality then. My point is -- forget TRAFFIC & PR Just concentrate on creating high quality, informative contents. Everything will fall in place slowly and with times. Of-course this is for sites whose revenue depends on AdSense, Affiliate programs and other such things. For sites selling genuine products - they don't really have the option to create much quality contents, so they have to go for PPC, advertising in industry related - high traffic sites. It is a misconection that - people buy link only to get PR. It is not always the case.
Having a high pr is nice but it means nothing without traffic. So I would go with the high traffic site.
