PageRank vs Traffic - what do you choose ?

Hello, here is just something to ponder.

If you could choose, which site would you take ?

    1. PageRank 3 with 20 unique visitors daily.
    2. PageRank 0 with 1000 unique visitors daily.

    reason I ask,
Ive sold a few hundred sites over the last couple years, I have sold hundreds of links on sites, and it seems everyone always wants PageRank.

After doing business online for 10 years, I still do not see what the big deal is with pagerank, yes it helps, I know that. But I would choose more traffic than a higher pagerank.
Lets say your site gets 100k uv daily, it comes from type ins, bookmarks, social networks, forums, traffic trades, but has a PR0. YOu can make a decent revenue from 100k uv daily, doesnt matter what niche.

Or you have a PR6 site that gets 100 uv daily. Im not a genius, but im going to say your not going to make revenue like you will with option 1.

I use my own sites as examples, one of them gets about 5k daily, mainly all US traffic, it has a pr0. It still gets quite a bit of traffic from google. It roughly makes about 300$/month revenue after its percentage of hosting costs.

I have another site, It has a PR3, gets about 100 uv daily, same niche. only reason it has the pr3 is because ive had the domain for about 2 years. It doesnt have massive backlinks or anything like that. It makes about 5$/month if that.

This is only my opinion, I just think people put way too much into Pagerank.
    what do you think ?

Yes, you can definitely put too much stock in PageRank...

However, I think a lot of people when buying links are thinking about boosting their own PageRank from the link. They are not looking for click-thrus from your site. Do your site's traffic is irrelevant.

    thanks for your responses
thats 3 votes for traffic as that is what Im about too.

yes i understand thats what people are looking for when buying links. I would be more concerned about the clickthroughs.
each link on my site with pr0 gets an average of 50 clickthroughs daily.

Traffic every time, pagerank will help you sell links.
Traffic will help sell your products.

    Thanks Brian

I would say traffic if I chose between PR and traffic for my site, but you are asking 2 things here.

    1) Traffic vs PR on your own site

    2) Traffic vs PR on a site you are getting a link from.

I would much rather have the traffic for my own site. PR means nothing to my visitors.

However I would rather have links with PR to my site. I won't make many conversions out of visitors from links to my site. PR links with good content still help push your site up the serps.

I understand, so you would rather have your link on a site that has a pr2 with barely any traffic than on a site with high traffic where you will get clickthroughs which will improve revenue and your sites overall traffic. I guess it would depend on what you want from the purchased link, traffic or improving your own pagerank.

    thanks for your input fadetoblack22.

I could not possibly care less about pagerank, I base everything I do on traffic. Google doesn't sign up for newsletters or buy products.

A real person pre-sold and buying a product or service is what puts the money in your account.

    Traffic, definitely. ;)

I have a blog that has a PR0 but it's in the Alexa Top100K, I still earn with it even without the PR. :)

you would think. so would I . but over the years I have talked to many people whos belief is
Go for the pagerank instead of the traffic.
This is because in the long run the higher pagerank will bring you more quality traffic.

Traffic rules, but there is no harm in a mix of traffic and PR sexyness.

    Same is with me...
Sites with PR making too less...and w/o PR sites are making good one....
I don't know then Why peoples are mad to buy or increase PR. PR also a private property of Google...
Nothing is like that with Yahoo or MSN or other big online companies...

PR really only matters if you are trying to sell links in my oppinion. That is why it is so hard to get my PR 0 link directory off the ground (even tho links are free). Anybody want a free link? PM me and I give alink.

Most of the time if it is narture link, PR higher site will get more traffic as well.
I have PR5 site, daliy uv less than 100. Because my site offer a php script long before, so it's pr is still 5 now.
I think Google PR just try to tell pepole is a site important, not how popular.
