    How do you know what pagerank different sites have? What pagerank is the best? (Im not talking Alexa here, but the 1-8 scale... I think!)

    It goes 1 - 10.

    If you have the google tool bar installed in your browser then you can see the PR on top when you visit a site.

    If you have Firefox browser, install an add-on called SEO Quake, this is a great piece of kit to have as your browsing. It will tell you everypage's PR, Google Indexed Pages, Alexa Rank, Whois, Internal Links, External links and more.
