PageRank On Interior Pages Lost - Home Page Remains PR3

    Hi,

We currently have a client who has a PageRank of 3 on their home page but all interior pages within their site now have a PageRank of 0. We are attempting to determine why the interior pages of this site have no PageRank. I cannot provide the domain as I do not have permission, however I am really looking for ideas on what can cause this.

My first question is does PageRank have to deal with incoming and outgoing links and are there any on-page optimization factors that can effect it?

I haven't found any recent complaints in other forums relating to this issue so I feel that it is specific to this site.

I did locate what would appear from a human review, what looks like paid links, however the client insists that he never bought any links on an sites and insists that Google will not penalize you for incoming links.

Additionally his advertising page used to say (he has now modified it) that advertising with his site would help increase your exposure in the search engines as links from other sites are important; however all outbound links that were paid for through the program had the nofollow to the links.

Please let me know your thoughts - I'm hoping to have some response by the end of today to discuss with the client tomorrow so if you could let me know what you think that would be great.

    Thanks!

Did the internal pages have PR previously? If so what. How is your internal linking?

Are you building links to the inner pages? My guess the backlinks pointing to the inner pages lost rank since last google update. Keep building backlinks to inner pages as well to the homepage.

Inner pages already had the ranks and now it don't have?
If starting inner pages had the page ranks and now it lost then it may be due to backlinks, content or any other things. I am not sure but I think some sites may be remove your site link or that sites may not be cached. So, start doing off page with focusing on internal pages.

I believe both backlinks and contents has something to do with its PageRank so better if you study the inner pages fr such issue on contents like duplicates, crappy content, lack of content or wrong grammar.

To get the good page rank both unique content and good quality backlinks are necessary.

Google has updated its Panda algorithm and it has put more emohasis on Page Rank this time perhaps for this reason only they renounce all your inner pages's PR.

The Page Rank of internal pages are depend upon importance and usability. How much traffic you are gating from internal page it's also mater for PR. Improve the back link of your internal pages it will help to get high PR.

That is because PageRank is the value for each and every individual webpage, and has no correlation with other pages of the same website.

As some people alluded to, it is most likely you have thin content on interior pages. Try writing some original articles, and link directly to them from the homepage and see if they will get some pagerank on the next update.

I think due to changes in Google ranking system it would have caused this.
