Your pagerank does help when getting advertisers because they don't want to be on a low pagerank web site. But it definitely doesn't get you any more traffic whatsoever.
Thanks for all the replies! This isn't meant to "prove" anything. It is indicative, not definitive. Just like practically everything else we all "know" about SEO. And more "real data" than anyone else seems willing to or is able to share on their experiences.. If you feel the data is pointless - PLEASE share something more than "blah blah blah" Matt Cutts said so and/or I read it somewhere. Give me some DATA or I'll ignore your baseless defense of PR. It's a custom stats script. PageRank certainly has some purpose, but as far as toolbar PageRank goes it mainly seems like a tool for Google to control rank manipulations and link sales. The latter of which I feel is highly unethical on their behalf, considering that their primary (and only really tangible) source of revenue is... you guessed it advertising.
I have some what of the same results.. It doesn't seem to matter as much as people would think it would.
Absolutely true. I have a couple brand new sites with no PR and they get 5000 visits a month but Have PR3,4 and 5 that don't get hardly any. PR is only good for link sales. Nothing else and has nothing to do with SERP's.
This pic is the PR formula from Ebook, SEO made easy (Brad Callen). It's may be out of date. But It can show that Page rank only depend on the number of Links. If this formula is truth. The traffic of your website is not a related factor in calculating PR then.
I am seeing the same on my websites. Page Rank has nothing to do with traffic, it is just how important Google sees your website. However, I see that my HIGH PR websites get updated and crawled faster than my low PR websites.
That's very interesting but PR really matters... How? If there is low competitors then you can easily get high SER but there are lot of competitors then you have optimize your site to get top rank, I mean just anyone need to have quality backlinks to remain in top.
pr always work find but the diffrent between your site keyword, niche or compititor ranking. if u do anaylsis again with same keyword site on diffrent pagerank and then u will saw diffrent result. and then your thread title may be like thi "" PageRank is all thing (See for yourself...) "
PageRank on itself doesn't really influence SERP. PageRank just states the imporance of your page determined by google, but that by itself doesn't have any influence. The factors that your PR is based on however, make up a very big part of your SERP.
Thank you for posting this data. I find that PR sometimes helps me rank better for competetive keywords. But just like your data, I often see a lot of traffic coming from relatively low PR sites as opposed to sites with better rankings. More popular niches, I'm guessing.
Page rank is more important to people who are in the link selling business (which is frowned upon by the big G) and for others, it is just a green bar and matters less whether the bar is short or long...
