And the google employee guy over there says: and for the time being we'll continue to update the Toolbar PageRank occasionally Sounds like they are not sure what they want to do with it, or they are busy fighting and arguing about what to do with it. Otherwise what does occasionally mean to them 8 months or more. Here at google we are proud of our patent or trademark (whatever it is) pagerank which we occasionally export and update to our toolbar aprox. every 8 - 24 months give or take. The google guy really didn't sound too promising, encouraging or convincing.
Pagerank are not priority in google, I think they are busy working in other products, and this cause the delay on toolbar update.
I'm not sure why people seem to thnk exporting the pagerank values needs to some huge project. It has to be automated. And it's just exporting existing values. They haven't done it in 9 months for a reason. Maybe it's not officially over, but unofficially I think it is. They just haven't made a formal decision yet. Pagerank may not be dead, but toolbar pagerank... it's passed on... this metric is no more... it has ceased to be... it's expired and gone to meet it's maker... bereft of life, it rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed it to the perch, it'd be pushing up daisies! It's kicked the bucket, shuffled off this mortal coil, run down the curtain, and joined the choir invisible... this is an ex-metric! "no, no, it's RESTING! It's probably pining for the fjords... remarkable metric, this pagerank, lovely backlinks!"
Not hate really, just frustrated over being made to wait 9 months (and counting) for something that really doesn't matter... My post was a parody of the Dead Parrot sketch from Monty Python, in case someone isn't familiar with it. This whole situation reminded me of it. Weird, though, that post ended with the word "backlinks". It shows up when I edit the post, but not when it's displayed... at least in my browser.
Why do you think in what other people will wanna do? If someone carry about pagerank, let them chose it.
Pagerank might not be dead but I guess Google is controlling them or doing something to release pagerank occasionally which means it could happen twice a year or perhaps once a year only?
