Where is the pagerank everyone has been waiting for? Some said it would happen before the end of 2010. Others had said it would happen on the 1st. No go on them. Are you still holding out hope for it? I gave up on it along time ago. Seems like some keep the hope alive. Maybe it will or will not happen, but like Google says don't dwell on it. I would love to see the day that it is no longer mention or expected, but don't think that will happen. Anyway for all of you that assumed it would update before the new year or on new years I guess you got screwed. Pagerank is dead or nearly dead if you ask me. Keep dreaming all you want.
Rather than posting a thread we've seen dozens of times, how about researching the following: Has any leading SEO or search engine industry journalist contacted Google about the lack of an update? Has there been any word from Google on any of its blogs or via any of Google's officers? Has any prominent blogger covered the lack of PageRank updates? Has anyone tried to contact Google directly to inquire about PageRank? This is what I'd like to know.
I stopped caring about PR when I realized that is was the SERPs that mattered. No use in having a PR3 if you don't rank on the first page for anything. I have tons of PR0 and PR1 sites on the first page of Google, above higher PR sites. Build quality content, stop worrying about a number Google gives you.
I do believed its already gone or dead for now but they might resurrect it in the future or change it all along..Nobody knows what's Google is up to until they will broadcast it in the whole world...
There seems to be major confusion on this point, as folks are missing a very important distinction: Google has the exclusive rights to PageRank through 2011, not up until 2011. Further, Google maintains the right to exercise an option to purchase permanent and exclusive rights to the PageRank technology, also through 2011.
PR is still important, because... it is the only indicator gave by Google! But Im totally agree, it's not smart to judge a website just with the PR!
Yes PR is not matter if you want to make money so you don't need PR you need traffics. so try to increase traffics. not focus on PR. because PR not give you money, traffics can give you money.
The truth is there are a only a few top slots, and increasingly you can't just SEO your way there. You need to make a work of art that is useful, informative, etc. This is the big secret to SEO. Others will try to convince you how you can increase pagerank and rankings, but most people don't see the forest for the trees.
Yeah, basically PR is dead. Better to use 3rd service to increase your goooooogle rank. Just my 2 cents.
As I have read at dp in numerous forum thread some said we would see an update around christmas. Then, some said around new year. I even read someone claimed "my insider source" said....x day for an update. Now I don't care. I really hope google does kill pagerank. It don't matter to me, and I think it would probably be for the best. I am just wondering when, if, or at what means one here will finally give up on it? Some of you folks can keep praying I guess, but I have pretty much labeled it as a lost cause at this point. Those selling links, maybe it will take a bite into your earnings, for me it don't matter at this point. Just get over it!
Personally I don't care about page rank, to me it's just a number, if Google finally updates PR then that's great if not oh well.... I keep doing what I have been doing, building sites with unique content, building backlinks, and keep my visitors coming back for more. I also have sites that are PR0 and I'm on first or second page of Google.
As long as you've visitors coming from search engines i.e. good search engine rankings, PageRank does not matter. A site of mine that has PR0 is on first page of a very competitive keyword so PageRank never really mattered for any of my sites.
