Did anyone ever notice that sub directories in Yahoo directory do not have any pagerank? And that being said why does it cost so much to be listed in there if there is no ranking ?

When you get ranked by an illegal method , thats too much for you
anyway yahoo will choose directory itself when you're using paid directory listing

Pagerank doesn't mean anything as long as that page is indexed.. So don't bother..

I think Google have removed the PR of the subpage in yahoo directory, as a result of penalizing the sites that are selling links.

Yeah, Google hit a lot of directories. The biggest hit I've seen was Hackersafe. For $1,400 a year, you'd get their service and 3 links from their Pagerank 7 directory. I'm not talking the homepage, the actual directory pages were 7. The problem is, Hackersafe (Scan Alert) started using that as a selling tool. People were buying service just for the links. Google caught on and took the wind right out of their sails.
Also, a note about Yahoo Directory. Google still endorses them in their Webmaster Guidelines.

Looks like Yahoo directory is losing some of its pulling power that way. Hmm.. wondering if they are going to lower the proce because of this?

I seriously doubt it. They have so many "endorsements" across the net for being one of the "authority directories" it will take a lot more than PR getting snatched.

Yahoo directory is very powerful and getting better day by day. Please note that PR is not that important for rankings any longer. You can have an excellent and very powerful one way link from a PR zero web page.

Does it really matter if a subdirectory of Yahoo is page ranked? I don't think that Yahoo cares. If you care to have your site linked on a site that is ranked then I would not use Yahoo. It is a separate issue and a separate strategy to me.

Link on directory home page are all redirect links ... I guess by that way the PR does not follow to subdirectory ,IMHO .
