yes, another pagerank question. i hate them to,but i'm going to ask anyway.

site A has no backlinks to get a pagerank, but has a listing in the yahoo directory and that page is a pr 4.
in theory, site A would get a pagerank of 3.would it?

site B has no backlinks to get a pagerank, but has a link on site A.
in theory, site B would get a pagerang of 2.would it?

    not a trick question. :p

well, at the directory page, even thought it has Page Rank 4, there are a lot of websites there and the PR will be split between them. You need a lot of links to get PR3 and you can't get it from just a link in a directory. you can't get PR from just one site. you need more links for that.

thats why i said in theory. ;)

it can take only one pr4 link for a page to become a pr3.
look at any site that has a pagerank.pages that have a link on the front page often have a pagerank one lower then the index.

    anyway,i asked could it happen.

I guess that is part of google's black box of rankings. No one really knows exactly how the back link weighting occurs.
