Did you participate in link exchange? Or did you sell links? Also, if you change the Title of your site, template, meta description, that would also affect your PR.

Don't worry dude, Its normal. Google frequently change the algorithm to determine the PR of a page.
Just keep building quality links and it will surely go up.

you need to continually build back links to your site. It's not enough to do this once, you have to keep doing this. It could be that the links you previously relied upon were also reduced therefore reducing your own page rank. It's a dynamic process. My avice is to keep building back links to your site everyday by posting on do follow blogs and forums (but not spamming) and also exchanging links with sites in a similar niche to your own

Did you have a lot of links from directories. I think a number of these got zero-rated shortly before the last PR export. Maybe this caused you to lose PR. If PR is important to you, keep getting links and it'll go back up.

Basically there are quite a number of reasons. One could be because your site get penalized and another could also be because you've lost some backlinks which you built previously.
Sometimes it's could also be due to the reason that somehow google has determined that your site is now less important relatively compared to other sites/competitors in the same niche as yours. It's part of their algo thing.

Everybody looses high PR every once in a while. I lost mine this update, from PR 4 to PR 0 and it's ok as long as I earn more from these websites because I am not at all selling links so there's no use for PR to me.

Toolbar PR is almost meaningless other than the fact a lot of webmasters think it's meaningful and may not want to swap links with you if it's not up to their standard. I've got the bar on my site and its main use is to see how much I can improve my rankings without having the PR change. My PR always has been poor and I really don't care. I'm not out for that I'm out for traffic. The reality of this is that actual PR we'll call it updates in real time and the way to monitor it is to look at your movement in the rankings for keywords. That's the bottom line here.
