Please show us the url. I think it is possible,i owned a site which own pr=2 without backlinks but own good traffic.
As you see above, there are some people who think that they haven't any backlinks, but they just don't know that they do... so, today we can't judge your case. I'm interested in material example, which we can check now.
OK. I know one!!!!!!!!!!!!! My professor's personal website is PR4 with absolutely NO backlinks at all. I explained the situation to him, and asked him if he previously had any backlinks, and he said "no." So yeah, with absolutely no backlinks an academic website was a PR4. (I know some will think it was a subpage in a university website. No!! It is a domain on his own name. And no backlink shows for the domain.)
well i got a feeling that this update in August which every talks about and thinks that havnt been done i think it has been , because i have seen few sites who has a new PR in last month time ! So i guess i didn't have any update so far ! Myabe next year :/
Its possible to have pagerank without backlinks or backlinks being indexed. It happens sometime when domain status changes.
So what? Google takes all links to count PR, not only that you see with links: command. Didn't you know?
Someone here already ask me regarding this matter..After checking the domain have at least 20 backlink..But i really never build backlink for this domain..And the domain old is 8 month now. I am not sure how google determine my pr..Maybe the site have useful information & nice design..
Ok, PageRank is a function of backlinks... that is it, end of story. If a single one of your backlinks is a PR5, then you might get a PR4 when the update happens. Or you could get the same from thousands of PR0's. It really is a straightforward equation. -Michael
It is possible for a webpage with no backlinks to get PR. It has happened before. But this webpage is a subpage, has good onpage optimization and rank high enough in the search engine, plus parent site is a high PR site and passes some PR love to the subpage.
Use Yahoo to check the backlinks if Google is not showing any. Better yet, use some ood Back Link Tool like www.backlinkwatch.com to check any backlinks and their PR.
Just discovered another case... I was searching for my name in Google using the keyword "mahesh mohan" without quotes and the first result is to http://www.igidr.ac.in/~mohan/... and I see that it have a PR of 4 with no backlinks... but its top level domain have 151 backlinks... http://www.google.com/search?q=link...en&safe=off&rlz=1T4HPAB_enIN231IN232&filter=0 And I see that my blog is Number 2 for that keyword http://www.minterest.com/
Minterest, again, you cannot get PageRank without backlinks. That page currently has 3 backlinks at least, possibly had more when the PageRank was assigned: http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=li...cijbdc&fr=yfp-t-501&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8 -Michael
Hi Michael, I still cant believe that... I have another example now.... checkout www.articlopedia.info it is my site but its expired now... I build that site one year back just to apply for adsense and I added around 4000 articles in that site... Google assigned PR of 1 in less than 2 months.. I thought that was temporary now look at that site it still have PR of one and it dont have any backlinks... yes you can see some backlinks in Yahoo and I think that site got a PR even before getting thhat backlinks...
Do you accept that its possible for there to be a backlink to your site that... 1. Nobody told you about? 2. Google is not showing you?
I have a site that has no backlinks and somehow enjoys a pagerank 3. There is no website, just an empty directory listing. Noone even knew about the site. I have no idea...
Hey there, Page rank is not just a function of backlinks.. If you want a good read on how it is calculated read this article here: http://pr.efactory.de/ It discusses the formula that was disclosed in the original google paper as well as variables that could have changed in the last couple years. There is a page in that document that describes how some people believe some websites without hardly any backlinks get a personalized inspection from google to get the PR boost.
