I heard that your Page Rank doesnt matter for your Search Engine rankings

However, I heard the PageRank of the sites that link to you IS what matters

    Is this true???

    Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

You are right. It is important, that you get backlinks from High PR websites like netscape.com, propeller.com and digg.com. But it still doesn´t help you too much to get up in search results.

Relevancy is the top concern in SERP. However, PR is also one of the factor considered among the relevant results. Hence, it is always your advantage if you could have strong sites linking to you :)

hmm, my PR2 site is at the top of results for several different items on Google, Yahoo and MSN. No high ranking inbounds (to my knowledge anyway). Several times a week (incidentally) things I post new to the site also end up on G VERY damned quickly...sometimes as soon as 30-40 minutes, but often within 90 minutes on the outside.

So PR doesn't matter... "for me", but I guess it won't hurt.

PR is said to play a small factor in the SERPs. However, to be all honest their is no one outside of Google that knows what really counts. I have seen sites make it to the top with no PR at all. I started a blogger blog and for one key term it made it to number one in less than a week. That was over 6 months ago and it is now number two and has a PR3. Granted it was not a very competitive keyword but there were other sites on top when I started and several had PR5 and up.

The big push for PR is the fact that people want it and if you are selling links or selling your site, a high PR will get you more money.

PR Matters alot !! In my personal view Google crawls website on the basis of PR !
Like my PR0 website gets crawled once 3-4 days
PR2 Crawls Once in 1-2 days
    PR3-4 Crawls Almost Daily
    PR5-6-7 Twice daily !
Thats all what my web stats says and i believe what i see .. :)

I have a PR0 right now that gets crawled twice a day. If I post something, it is indexed almost with in minutes. PR has nothing to do with how fast Google crawls a site. Neither does the crawl speed have to do with where your are ranked in the SERPs.

PR in itself doesn't mean anything. Having a strong, established, linked too site with relevant content is what determines your ranking. However, if you have a site like that, you probably have decent PR anyway so it doesn't matter.

Doesn't work for me. My PR5 home page is crawled maybe once every 5-6 days.
