    Hello

I have a simple question for you guys. If I change the server that a site is hosted will that affect(negatively) its pagerank ? I guess not since the number of backlinks will stay the same but I just want to be sure :)

If you do the switch properly, I don't think it's going to affect much on the pagerank. However, I can be wrong. Google is too dynamic.

The pagerank on one of my PR3 sites with inner pageranks, dropped and now a PR1. I switch hosting and change DNS. I still have some inner PR, but few and mostly PR2 with a PR1 frontpage.

So I think switching my cause a lower rank, though i'm not 100% sure of this and some may know better and I would like to hear this aswell.

To also note, this happen in December where it gave it a PR1 then the January update it brought the PR back to 3 with inner PR's of up to PR3, but it took it back in late-March! lol

I don't think that was an issue with the transfer....that must have just been your site...

this is just my opinion because i'm not sure...but I don't see why google would punish for moving servers...it happens way too much...

I have changed servers on several websites and have never seen a PR drop b/c of it.

However, you may see one if you go from dedicated to shared. But that is just a hunch, I don't have any proof to back it up other than it appears that Google likes dedicated servers better.

Changing hosts has no impact on PageRank. PageRank is attached to the URL of the individual pages and simply reflects the number and quality of the links that point to the page in question.

Changing hosts also has no impact on how well your site ranks in the search results, and for the same reasons. The issue of hosting affecting rankings is something of a myth. There was a time when being on a host that was associated with a SPAMmer could cause problems, but that was many years ago and the Internet has matured to the point where the host or IP address is no longer a reliable indicator of quality.

I dont think there will be any problem as far as the URLs are intact.
