PageRank affected by "If-modified-since" HTTP header?

Does anyone know if PR is affected by If-modified-since HTTP header?

I have a dynamic site and I'm adding the "Date-modified" header to my page manually..but I'm afraid google might've dropped by PR for doing that while not supporting "if-modified-since"..

    any suggestions?

I dunno, if you do shady stuff you might get banned and PR dropped, but then again with the pagerank fluctuations your probably just seeing old data. Check iwebtool or McDar for PR accross the datacenters.

It should be fine, and there's nothing shady about the If-Modified-Since header. It's simply a way to tell browser and bots that you're page has (not) been modified. It's a great way to speed up your website, and save bandwidth costs.

If the Google bots don't support it, they probably ignore the header, and continue on their way. No biggie.

Shouldnt matter, if your page is SEO for the main points (H1,H2,Content,layout etc) then your PR will be fine!

    Hi

Actually it is something Google wants you to do. Since it seems many do not know this I will post it from Googles website

    [QUOTE]
Make sure your web server supports the If-Modified-Since HTTP header. This feature allows your web server to tell Google whether your content has changed since we last crawled your site. Supporting this feature saves you bandwidth and overhead.[/QUOTE]

So yes make sure your server supports such.

it should not be affected by "If-modified-since" but it could be affected by fake "If-modified-since"
like mdvaldosta said, if you do shady..you never know
