I just checked your blog and you're using : <!-- all in one seo pack 1.4.6.8 [215,342] --> Are you sure you don't care about keywords? And I also saw adsense and quite a lot of ads spaces on your blog I don't agree with that. Apple gain PR9 because they have more backlinks than Dell. Why don't they rank better? Because Dell has more relevant backlinks than Apple. Simply put : PR ~ links SERPS ~ anchor text links and that's it! And oh, I 100% agree with Supper :
Yes I dont care about keywords.... Yes I am using All In One SEO to optimize each individual title and description of the post I use simple tags!!! There is only one 125x125 button ad in the whole site, which is not mine, it belongs to my host which keeps this site FREE Did you read my post my friend? I said they are more popular... what does that mean?? That means for their computer niche their popularity is more. More popular things obviously will have more backlinks cause people talk about it?? Or not hmmm? PR is not ONLY the direct result on number of backlinks... quality matters vastly. As Google themselves said: The heart of our software is PageRankâ„¢, a system for ranking web pages developed by our founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin at Stanford University. And while we have dozens of engineers working to improve every aspect of Google on a daily basis, PageRank continues to play a central role in many of our web search tools. PageRank Explained PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page's value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at considerably more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; for example, it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves "important" weigh more heavily and help to make other pages "important." Using these and other factors, Google provides its views on pages' relative importance. Of course, important pages mean nothing to you if they don't match your query. So, Google combines PageRank with sophisticated text-matching techniques to find pages that are both important and relevant to your search. Google goes far beyond the number of times a term appears on a page and examines dozens of aspects of the page's content (and the content of the pages linking to it) to determine if it's a good match for your query. Of course, who cares about what Google said anyway eh??? but hey, I still believe it. Cheers bro!
Nice post and I agree with most of the content. Well, that wasn't the case with www.tutorialsroom.com, the main page had Pr3 and it Google used to visit the home page every 3 or 4 days but now, I update the homepage daily and Google responded by visiting the home page daily too and maybe more than one time a day. The last new tutorial linked from the main page was indexed in Google in less than 2 hours although my Homepage Pr is still 3! So, I think the factor here is how frequent your site gets updated not the PR which is how many links you have.
Not always bro... I didnt/couldnt update my site the last month regularly, but Google still crawled me everyday! I think, its more about availability and overall niche development. It could be that after you made your blog, a few hundred other blogs also popped up with a similar rank and importance within your own niche. Thus, Google is actually concentrating more on those. However, it really varies and no one can tell surely...
Plain and simple... thats my point as well lol... thanks for coming up with the right sentence! And you are welcome
Yes, there are lots of examples of low-PR pages ranking high for noncompetitive KWs. But go do the research at length (I have), and you will find that low-PR sites ranking for competitive keywords are as scarce as hen's teeth.
I find it amusing to see people wanting to put PR in a corner - black or white. We all know that SERPS are keyword dependent and the ranking for a PR 4 for one phrase will be different than for another. Google use PR as an overall quality indicator. The SERP for an individual key phrase will be influenced by but not totally dependent upon PR.
Nice post, great discution. i my opion keywords meta tag are not so important this days but remove then ? why? a like a lot keyword cloud in sites
Yes - its the never ending debate! Personally even though my site has gone from PR4 to PR6, the traffic is no higher! That said, if you're a travel site that wants to link, drop me a PM! Thanks for an intersting original article too!
IMHO, the PR Green Bar is a scam. Google is artificially manipulating PR, so therefor it's pretty useless. The last time PR mattered in competitive SERPS was August of 2006.
