I just recently started using Analytics (I usually use Statcounter), so I don't know if this can be done or not...

Is there a way you can block your own visits from showing up in your traffic stats? For example, in Statcounter, there's a place where you can input your IP address(es) to exclude your visits from registering in the log...

Yes, you just set it as a filter - the official blog explains it much better than I could - so look here - http://analytics.blogspot.com/2009/06/back-to-basics-filtering-out-your-own.html
One thing I would strongly suggest is that when you set any filter you do it in a new profile so that you have a 'master' profile that has no filters at all. This is because once you've set up this kind of filter it can't be undone - you are instructing GA to not even collect that data anymore.

A visit happens when someone or something (robot) visits your site. It consists of one or more page views/ hits. One visitor can make multiple visits to your site.Default time of a visit is 30 minutes.
