I have been having some issues with my analytics. I have way more page views than sessions and visitors which I know is incorrect. I do not have it downloaded twice onto my webpage. Can anyone help me with this?
Depends - as you can see from the image, average pages pr. session is close to a hundred - that is a LOT, especially for such short visits (3-4 minutes), so either you have bots/crawlers being tracked, or you have people downloading / "visiting" images or other content and being counted as page-views.
Is there a way I can check and see exactly what is going on? It's making it so I can't accurately keep track of my blog progress.
This could be a issue with analytics at the moment. Someone I know had a 10,000 page view spike overnight. I had a 60% bounce rate spike the night after. Haven't found and explanation yet. http://gyazo.com/f78920dbe568425c2ab0b16019a716ee This is my bounce rate spike http://gyazo.com/354df4ac2ec025e2aa782a0077983afc I would maybe go to traffic sources and see if you can see any sort of traffic spike in there. It could be an analytics error or someone is going around sending huge amounts of traffic to random analytics tracking codes and it's showing up as page views. I've seen this before on my own accounts just not to that extent. If it was someone sending mass amounts of bot traffic though usually it leaves right away so it will be a 100% bounce rate. You're bounce rate suggest that isn't the case.
I have noticed some erratic behaviour as well. https://gyazo.com/41786fe92834cd72a2819d2616c223b6 Bounce rate is about 2% - i dont know....thoughts???
I think it's a bots/crawlers issue. Probably someone is doing tests with your domain. You just need to wait at least a week and then check if anything is normal again. I know it's not a nice situation, you have to be patient and wait.
I'm not that phased by it....just annoying not seeing accurate stats.....say that the google analytics is free....if I was paying for it, my opinion would be very different.
Sometimes you don't understand that what is actually going on the analytics's it is a bit confusing...
