    We've recently moved a site onto a new platform. In one month we've seen a four-fold growth in direct traffic with some odd patterns.
    • 'Direct' requests for pages with complex urls
    • receiving hundreds of views last 00:00 each day.
    • Bounce rate is near 100%.

    Is this spider traffic? If so why does Google count it?
    Can someone help me understand what is going on?

    I'm learning about analysing web traffic and help is appreciated.

    Sounds like some type of bot activity. Could be a scraper site.
