Yes - you must first make an account there, and get code to put into your web site. Then you can start tracking visitors on those pages. But maybe I misunderstood and you are asking about something completely different....
No need to mess about signing up to things. Just check you're server logs. If you're using CPanel, then you might have AwStats installed, check that. KP
Your hosting company should have some sort of web stat software available for you to look at. Like King Pin stated if your using cPanel they have a range of software already installed Awstats being one of them, they are great.
Google analytics is by far the best web analytics program to use, most web hosting companies provide pre-installed awstats or webalizer but they tend to be inaccurate and report invalid pageviews\visits. I suggest giving Google Analytics a try. www.google.com/analytics
Creat an account in google analytics. add a website paste the urchin code given by google at specified place hots the pages start tracking thats it.
