I see doesn't that sound odd tho? SEO isn't supposed to make it sound odd to humans... True?

It should depend on what type of website you have. Let's say you have a ecommerce website with hundreds or thousands of pages. You dont want to put your website title on every product page. There is no point of doing that unless you believe you have such strong brand that it will push the click. It's extra junk added to the title in a way which takes focus away from the product.

I mean if you advertise and focus on the brand then go for it. However just put the name atleast. Dont go and put the whole url in there, that just looks bad to the eye and might cause your title to get cut off in the serps

    don't follow any rule.
Just give your page title which can briefly depict contents of page.

Title must be related to content. Keep rhythm in everything... title, meta, header, links etc. Each and every part of your site should speak about your hot keywords. Don't get me wrong and over optimize your site. Do right seo and keep rhythm including title which is very important.

Also it is nice to have it in there but don't worry about it to much unless your sitename is a competitive term. If it's like snowboards.com and you sell snowboards then having it in the title will help...

If it's xnndkee.net and you're sure that there aren't many xnndkee's on the net then it isn't that important, it just builds you're name.

Common sense would agree with you, but I optimize for a couple of clients who both sell the same thing. On one site I have placed the company name before the keywords in the page title on every page. On the other I dropped the company name altogether, except on the home page. Funnily enough, the site which includes the company name now ranks higher than the site without, which was an eye opener to me!

First word in the title should be the most important keyword from the page you are optimizing. Dont use more than 80 characters.
