Say you have a page that has Jessica Alba pictures, now the term 'jessica alba' is obviously searched for MUCH more then 'jessica alba pictures'...But hsould I title the page jessica alba pictures or just jessica alba?

If I add the extra keyword in pictures could I still do well in a term just for 'jessica alba'...Which should I do?

    Thanks

are you trying to target the picture niche or jessica alba? The way i look at it as target the small niche first then go for the big fish... if you go for the big fish and fail for some reason then you have nothing but if you go small then bug and fail u still ahve the small fish.. just my 2 cents :) or target both the big and little fish :)

You can target both "jessica alba" and "jessica alba pictures" on one page. However, you will get best results if you split the keyword phrases to (at least) two pages and interlink them with keywords in anchor text.

Also for your visitors it would make perfect sense to have one page with general information about Jessica Alba and another page with pictures of her.

I forgot to say it's a forum topic, I know forums dont do as well in first place but its a topic that has pictures of her (as well as other celebrity topics), the term jessica alba is searched for so much more then jessica alba pictures, could i still show up under 'jessica alba' searches too even if the title is 'jessica alba pictures'?

Well they are both targeted, i would put jessica alba as it will still be picked up in jessica alba pictures.

Use Jessica Alba Pictures as it will still be picked up for Jessica Alba and help you rank better for a phrase you actualy have a shot at ranking well for.

I'd use "Jessica Alba Pictures". Jessica Alba Pictures will rank well in MSN for both "Jessica Alba Pictures" and "Jessica Alba" - sure having the extra keyword "Pictures" slightly dilutes the keywords "Jessica Alba" but the term "Jessica Alba Pictures" is 1/5 as competitive as the term "Jessica Alba". So as xboxundone said - I'd go after the little fish first, because in my opinion it is better to be in the top 5 of a term that gets over 1,000 searches a day, than to be on the third of forth page of a term that gets 25,000 searches a day - if you know what I mean.

Jessica Alba Pictures will work for both keywords in all SERPs.

i agree domainmaster. Keywords should be mixed wherever it makes relevant sense.

    Thanks

    How about this

'Jessica Alba - The Jessica Alba pictures topic'

Then in the topic have that in H1 tag and then in h2 tag 'Post your pictures of Jessica Alba here'

That way in the topic title and in the thread it has the phrases 'Jessica Alba' AND 'Jessica Alba pictures'.

    That be ok?

Why not just make it the title "Jessica Alb Picture" and called the thread "Post Your Jessica Alba Pictures" or are you looking to optimise for the misspelling of Jessica Alba? I personally think that adding words like "the" and "here" aren't going to improve anything and the word "topic" again probably wouldn't be associated with many keyword phrases including Jessica Alba.

Mispelling? No I just mispelt it in that reply by accident.

But SE's like MSN will ignore that and still single out the phrases 'jessica alba' 'jessica alba pictures', the word 'topic' isn't meant to add anything.

Also, do you think it would be a good idea to put a bio of the celebrity in the topic as well? More keywords of the celebrity then, or not bother?

I think keyword rich content is always a good idea, even if the page is primarily meant to be just pictures.

    Yeah, me too

I am still deciding on how to do the topics tho

Right now I have it like this

Page title of just the celebrity name

Then in the topic I have in H1 tags 'celebrity name pictures' then in h2 tags 'post your celebrity name pictures here'

I think you should go with "jessica alba pictures", as trying to rank for "jessica alba" will probably be next to impossible. If you have good success with this strategy, you can always target "jessica alba" down the road, and will probably find it easier to rank for this term once your site has a track record and has established some authority. :)

Yep, I';ve gone with that sort of, I've gone with 'celebrity name pics'

According to Overture 'celebrity name pics' is searched for lot more then 'pictures' on a lot of celebrites', tho I will change the title to 'pictures' for celebrities where 'pictures' is searched for more but generally it seems to be 'pics'.

That's really interesting - I use the search function in my Google toolbar for searches (you can view the same functionality at http://www.google.com/webhp?complete=1&hl=en), and without exception, there are always more results for 'pictures' than 'pics'. Based on the number of searches on Overture, you'd think it would be the other way around.

I found it weird too, not sure how accurate Overture is tho but according to them 'pics' is normally searched for lot more.

Ok so I just checked out wordtracker.

According to Overture as I say 'pic' is searched for lot more a lot of the time then 'picture'...But according to Wordtracker its normally the other way round?

Who should I trust? Pictures or pics?
