I'm not sure where to post this and I hope the moderators will move it to the most appropriate forum.

I've been told that my web site is slow to load due to my logo and the pictures. Yet, I've seen lots of other sites with many graphics on them. I'm wondering why mine might be slow and what I can do to improve the loading speed.

It loads fine on my computer so I'm somewhat confused about what the problem is and how to fix it. Are there specific guidelines somewhere?

It could be your web hosts's hardware is not fast enough. Try changing the webhost to see if it works better.

Always optimize your graphic to smaller size. Those with many graphics may have been already optimize their site.

What format are your graphics in? If they are bmp that would slow down the load time. Best format to use would be jpg

Thank you for your replies, Toby and Seserb. I believe my pics are all jpg. I will check and see if I can downsize some of them. I sure appreciate the suggestions.

make sure they are sized right.

Some people just upload huge pictures and resize them using the <img tage

What size is your biggest image. I normally try to keep my images as small as possible.

If you have some large images I find that some websites cut these large images up into smaller ones as I think 20 smaller images may load better and quicker than one large one.

Once the 20 little images load then it will just form 1 big one anyway.

You all have been a big help. I've downsized most of my pictures and it is loading faster. I'm also going to check out the optimization link. Thanks a bunch. Ozzie
