    Hi Guys,
I just want to know what is the creteria for calculating page rank, is there any calculation for that, can anyone help me with that.
I am having a site for which I am at the moment having around 2000 backlinks and alexa rank of about 500000, what page rank can I expect.

Page rank is having one formula, purely known to Google only. It calculates from the number of back links and number of outbound links from your website. No one can predict any PR value for any site, though I have seen so many tools which can predict your PR, but IMHO those are use less. I don't think that page rank depends on the alexa rank.

In most cases You can expect PR 2 +
Anyway we can't assure that also. It's all depends upon pr algorithm only

There is no fixed formula that says what’s the number of backlinks that will determine your PR rank. Basically there are few factors such as quality of backlinks which can be the deciding factor such as whether the link is related to your niche or not and as such will give a certain weight. You might have 1000 backlinks to achieve PR2 but you can also have 200 high quality backlinks with high PR that can also give your PR2.

    1. Outbound links have NO affect on PageRank.
    2. Topic, themes, keywords, niches, have nothing to do with PageRank.

I'm not sure how accurate this is, but here is a link you can check out
    http://tnx.net/google-pr.php

I just got some high pr back links, so we will see how it goes according to that chart.

    Thanks..

lol, backlinks are not the only one PR evaluator.
Just on example: I've made a site for regional division of one political party with domain org.ua, I have up to 3-5 visitors per day, almost no backlinks at all except a few national web-catalogs and registering in SEs. In 1.5 month I've got PR2 and still have it.
But I've made a work on quality of the actual site + content is the most unique and regularly updated, and I have top 5 positions for majority of site specific key-words.

So don't rely on PR prediction sites. Yes it can help a bit, can cheer you up and give some hope, but don't really trust those predictions.
And btw, I believe that nowadays in Google EVERYTHING is related to each other more or less. It's just like a web of spider and if the fly got into it - all the web is signaling to the spider that fly is there and tells where exactly to go.
    People, use your brains!

Criteria for calculating page rank changes upon time to time according to Google policy. So there's no fixed measurement that can be used for prediction.

Only google knows exactly how PR is calculated. Anyway, if you want to improve PR, then you need to build lots of backlinks.

Google has a secret algorithm. They are always updating the algorithm though. For us webmaster, we can test and we'll make our own theory.
