How can we improve the page rank of the blog?

(Please explain more about the page ranking.)

I am currently using blogspot.

 

Get other sites to link to you.

 

Got links, got more links, from high PR and authoritatives sites.

Funny, I have a friend who set up her blog and within two weeks time it was a PR4 site. Only one entry on the blog at that. Turns out, I had one link to my site which had a PR4 ranking at the time.

 

Was it a expired domain with PR and your friend just registered?

No, it was a Blogger site with her name included. One of her links was to my PR4 site, so that probably had a big determination for her blog coming in so high.

 

To be honest, I wouldn't use blogspot. I would buy your own domain name and that way the value of your asset is yours entirely, and you can sell it, and not attached to some other company.

To improve PR just try to get some more good quality links to your website from other sites. The higher the PR of the other sites, the less you will need, whilst the lower the PR links from other websites, the more you will need.

 

I don't like Blogger/Blogspot either. As a blogger, I want full control over my site which includes backing up files and controlling content.

I have heard horror stories where the blogging police shut down a blog because of something "offensive" said therein.

 

But of course, I'm sure she's also done lots of SEO and maybe backlinks not from just one high PR site but several. Otherwise everyone that posted their website URL on this forum would have a PR4 site. Or am I wrong ??

If you use Blogger, does it mean that you need to do more SEO and link development work than if you'd build a site from scratch? Or does it not make any difference?

 

why bother developing pagerank to a free domain.. buy a domain and develop that instead.. and if u want u can even sell it in future...

Install google toolbar and PR of each page you browse will be displayed in the tool bar. Alternately, you can find many free PR checking website, like in iwebtool.com, seochat.com etc.
