    commenting on nofollow blogs do help in increasing search rankings and its the least understood fact...coz most seo's take that in terms of Google only.

    But Ask.com and couple other search engine crawlers not only follow these links but also count as back-links.

    Now what happens is Google (Google is SEO & SEO is Google !) crawls over these search engine results and ...:)

    Get good quality backlinks that are relevant to your site.
    Submit your site to some directories, post a sig link and be active on forums and make some blogs comments.

    1. Do onpage SEO
    2. Write quality content
    3. Get relevant backlinks from high PR sites/directories/blogs
    4. Avoid black hat SEO...
