Page rank vs. relevance

If I go to the following site:

    http://www.seochat.com/seo-tools/pagerank-search/

    and type in the keywords:

    "fine art" cd monet

My eBay store comes up first if 'relevance' is selected as the criteria, if PR is the criteria I am 0/10 and at the bottom. I am also first on Yahoo, and my non-eBay store www.awesome-art.biz comes up on the first page ALWAYS, but my PF is always ZERO.

Obviously relevance is much more important than PageRank. Why is PageRank spouted as being so important?? What is PR based on vs. relevance??

    Thanks,

    Allen

well #1 you're performing a very specific search. Do you even have any competitors for that term?

#2 i doubt Y! uses a G technology to order its search results

#3 it clearly says at the bottom of www seochat.com/seo-tools/pagerank-search/
: "PageRank Search is not associated with Google"

Google page rank is used for... ranking Google results. But if a category or search is so niche that there are no real competitors or companies fighting for top 10 rankings, then they let just about anyone and anything rank.

Yes it is a very specific search, it is for digital fine art. If I type in:

    "fine art" digital monet

there are about 300,000 hits on Yahoo, and I am number one. All I did was a very specific keyword selection, and structured my pages with the keywords. Having an eBay store certainly doesn't huurt either.

Other than that, I haven't done much. There are very few backlinks to my site other than from eBay stores
