Hi everyone: I just put together a list showing the PR updates in the last 3 years. Page Rank Update List. Updated the page to automatically put in todays date and calculate the difference in the number of days. <?php echo floor((strtotime("today") - mktime(0,0,0,6,23,2004))/60/60/24);?>
Thanks Bobmutch, it is interesting to notice that there was a similar long delay last year at the same time. (54 days starting Jun 15). Btw, when exactly did the Florida update happen? It would be nice to notice how much time elapsed before that update!
Google employees are all taken on a vacation right now They are celebrating..... See you in November?
NewComputer: I am predicting an update on PR before next Wednesday and I have very good reasons to believe that.
i think there will be a PR update before we've gotten 2 or 3 days into september. that however is just a hunch and nothing more.
Seems like speculation to me - unless you worked for google. There is no real reason they would need to update the PR bar regularly.
I wonder how can anybody be so precise in putting dates to Google Updates. It could be that what we get from the PR bar and the backward link information is not what they are using in their algorithm, but some cosmetic value they give us to speculate. 3 websites I am following for a couple of years now, have backlink information from the last update, that has nothing to do with reality. Google has taken away most of the 4 + PR baclinks and added many 1 to 3 PR backward links. I allways thought that backlinks less than 4 PR were not considered by Google, and they are there today. All that to say that there has not been any significant changes in my SERPs even the last "Update" has been the most weird one I have experienced.
well, I don't know when the next update is, like most of you guys (apart from bobmutch?), but I have been seeing some spikes in Googlebot's visits to my site every 2 weeks, and the next spike is expected sometime during this weekend, so if the next update does happen next week, that would be 'perfect' for me, 'cos I have made some major changes to the site's optimisation and most of those changes haven't been indexed as yet, but should be indexed over the weekend when Google's little helpers come along (just in time before an update??) Well, I hope so.
I never really notice any large increase in visits from any bots around the update times. And answering the Mesothelioma Question: http://www.jrwrestling.com/mesothelioma/mesothelioma-attorney.php and http://www.jrwrestling.com/mesothelioma/mesothelioma.php both have been doing OK, and the http://www.toptentshirts.com/mesothelioma/latest.php has been doing poorly. The rest of the Resource Index has been doing very well though. The Articles at the resource index were just recently added though.
NewComputer: Purely conjecture. Everyone:Page Rank Update List. Updated the page to automatically put in todays date and calculate the difference in the number of days. <?php echo floor((strtotime("today") - mktime(0,0,0,6,23,2004))/60/60/24);?>
so the higher the page rank, the better the site? I.e. a PR of 10 beats PR of 1? Are there are sites I can submit to, to improve my PR?
liwei: Yes submit to directories starting with www.dmoz.com , check out Aarons Wall's list of directories at www.directoryarchives.com . Then get reciprocal links. Do a search on relevant links, and read a few articles on reciprocal links.
liwei, believe me, in just 2 months, your life is going to change FOREVER! Just 2 months from now, you will be looking at the Google toolbar day and night wondering why the damn thing doesn't move. You will never be able to sleep again. You are going to be a totally different human being.
I am beginning to think etreus is correct. We have a site that has been around since 1997. It had some silly old school tricks in place that G finally learned to penalize. The site eventually fell off in the G SERPs a couple of years ago, but we never really paid attention. 3 months ago, I attempted to resurrect it. Removed the same color text as the background on the index page and began getting links to it. The site is in the DMOZ and Yahoo directories, but viewing the Google Directory, it was at the bottom with no PR. Whenever they updated the G Directory this month, the site now sits #2 in its category with what looks to be PR5 or 6. Seems more and more likely that G has just stopped updating the toolbar PR. Maybe until they figure out a way from keeping people from calculating PR on their own outside of the toolbar this is how it will be. One thing is for sure, I get a lot more sleep now.
