page rank question

is it possible for a single page to outrank the homepage?
for example, if i link to this page with the term dessert recipes several hundred times, it could rank as as a 4, whereas the homepage may only rank 3.
I don't recall anyone saying they had more pr on an inner page  is this possible?

    Sure,

What if google.com would link (From their homepage) to one of your inner pages? that page will get a very high PR, 8 or 9 probably. If that page links to some other pages + your homepage, it will have some effect on your homepage aswell (according to the published articles) but the inner page might have a higher PR.

More simple example: if that inner page does NOT link back to your homepage, or has no links at all, it will still hold 8 or 9, while your homepage is what it was before.

Yes it is possible. I have had it a few times before. Usually evens out though later, as PR seems to flow through your site better than out of the site now.

    thanks a lot.
It seemed to make sense, i guess everyone spends more time promoting their homepage which is why it usually ranks higher. just wasn't 100% sure.

its very much possible to have more PR on inner pages than homepage.

but inner page promotion is more diffcult. many directories or sites don't accept deep linking URLs unless they are paid ;). So you must own network sites to exprement this or need to invest lot of $$$ to promot inner pages

Not really. You could do it for $80 thru prweb, actually. Start a new site. Submit a press release and make your home page an internal page on the site. Don't do any more marketing; you'll see that internal page get a Pr 3 or something, homepage would get a 2. Simply based on the # of sites that pickup a prweb release.

why is it that you can get bad rep for asking a question like this?

it was a question i wanted to ask...and it had no motive other than to recieve an answer.

one would have sufficed, but others seem to want to add something.

so whoever gave me red rep under the heading 'pointless'

    **** ***... !!!!!

some of the ******* here **** me off sometimes...jesus,.,,give someone a computer and they think they are god !!!

(off for a high caffeine cofee)

10hours later: edited the bad language from my thread :) I have calmed down now, doesn't mean i dont think you are a ****** !!
