I have just created a new website and am now in the process of trying to create backlinks around the net. One of the best ways apparently is writing articles and submitting them to high ranking directories like ezinearticles.com for example. Ezinearticles has a page rank of 6/10 according to SearchStatus but it seems the majority of the article pages are unranked, so are these backlinks any good?
submiiting your article in ezines is not a big deal but to get the article approved is a solid task>but to remind youy taht jsut making a submission or a getting a article approved in ezine doesnt means that u have got a backlinks as backlinks can be generated from any source!!!
submitting to ezinearticles is good. but this is just beginning. you need to constantly build links from different sources, .com,.edu,.gov., old sites/pages (authority), new sites/pages(relevance),etc. a lot of work to do
getting a backlinks from a single source will not make you to get sufficient baclinks. Therefore besides article submission start working on other channels too!!
Backlinks are really important for gaining PR. But the backlinks should be of quality and not quatity. Also you should go for other off techniques so that your overall rank will grow.
Based on my experience, only the page with Index.html got page rank, other sub-pages don't get it at all. Those secondary domains sitting on the same hosting account -don't get anything too (?)
Thanks for all the quick replies. I am working on other methods as well such as commenting, posting on forums etc but I'm just wondering if its the page rank of the website that's important or the web page you're posting on. By the way SearchStatus is an invaluable tool as it highlights all the nofollow tags so you know you're not wasting your time.
Well note that u need to submit unqiue articles to avoid duplicate content also build backlinks from relavant themed sites and forums
