    It is similar to PR but gives more attention to social media. Finally, here is +1 where that influence will be much bigger. I expect that this impact will grow in the next couple of years.

    It is important! But it is not your main goal. First you need to build a unique website with great content. Then you must start getting backlinks from websites that are best quality! The best quality websites are marked by Google with good PageRank. Just a few high PR websites pointing to your page are a way better in building good SERPs that a hundred of spammy PageRank 0 backlinks.

    I agree. But a page rank of 0 will not get you on google's first page of search results. So its best to strive for obtaining a high page rank. Backlinks, backlinks and more backlinks.

    What is perplexing to me is that everyone says content is king as far as page rank is concerned. If that is true, then why do I see domains that have been parked for 2 years that have a PageRank of 4?
