Hello all, I was wondering what everyone's views on Page Rank are; still important or as redundant as a member of the Emron board? All ideas are welcome; my personal view is it must still be useful in some way as Google wouldn't have bothered slapping everyone's PR in Oct, but at the same time I don't take any notice of it? Cheers Mischa
Most SEO experts think that PR is one of the main factors that the Google algo uses in determining SERPs. But there are probably several other big factors and dozens of minor ones. No one outside of Google really knows how much weight is given to each factor.
page rank is a conspiricy, created by google to keep webmasters talking about it and promoting google. this is the reason why they make changes to it and not tell anyone, just to keep us talking. im telling you its all a conspiricy. you wanna know who the 2nd gunman on the grassy knoll was, google knows lol
LOL sweetlouise In my experience it is somewhere between what sweet said and what billybw said. I think it is definitely important. It is an indicator of a score that Google gives to all sites. If it didn't matter and was totally free floating, why are there now small, three pages sites with a PR of 10? Its because the score does have some merit. Is it the end all, no. The end all is how much traffic you have and how well you can monetize it. Look at PR, but stay focused on the end game, and thats your bank account.
PR IS JUST A NUMBER Maybe is usefull when you sell links (personaly i thind more intresting to look afther niche relevancy/link populrity but that's just me)
PageRank is just a measure of links to a page quantified to a number from grey(0) to 10. and link is definately one of the factors that Google uses to determine their SERPs. Is PR still important? .. hmmm .. Thats similar to the question: Is Time important to how well you can see your friend. - Yes I suppose it is. - Depends on where you are too. - Depends on where he is. - Depends on many many other factors.
