I just wanted to check my PR today and i entered my URL in some sites that offer free page rank check. I did this with no more than 4 different sites and only 2 of them showed me the same PR for my web site. What do you think?

No, PageRank is not a scam. It is apparently important to Google, or they would not use it and publish it. What may (or may not) be a scam is a lot of the online promises to "get you higher PR" or "guaranteed PR5" or similar promises. Just work on producing a quality web site and getting good inbound links. The PR will take care of itself.
If you want to know your real PR use PR live checker sites: http://livepr.ezer.com/ and http://livepr.raketforskning.com/. This will display your real PR... Because your PR comes from different datacenters as what they says...

I did so and i found the real PR of my sites. I didn't say PR is a scam. I was saying that some sites offer a "tool" that gives your site's PR, but this "tool" proves not to be as accurate as it should be.
they are just using different datacenters is all. nothing more nothing less. use the google bar for better results.
At one time I had a PR6. My PR dropped again Oct. even though I have almost 19,000 backlinks now according to Yahoo and Oct. was my all time high in unique visits, page views, hits, and income. At this point page rank means nothing to me.
I never recommend anyone to use these free tools to check page rank... Even the Google toolbar is not updated frequently so it is not the most accurate way of checking PR. the BEST way to check your Pagerank is by creating an account with Google Webmaster tools. Google Webmaster tool will ask you first to put a verification code on your site, and once your site is verified, you can get a lot of Google information such as 1.Your site's pagerank 2.When Google last crawled your site 3.Keywords your site shows up in Google 4.Errors that Google gets when their crawler visits your site 5.Submit your sitemap Sign up for Google Webmaster account -- it is FREE -- and start getting more Google related information about your site https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/siteoverview
