I have a domain about 5-6 years old, it is empty at the moment with a page rank of 2. Is there anyway for me to boost the page rank? What content should I put in order to maximize the page rank in the shortest possible time?

Your setting on gold, just start writing about your topic and posting high quality articles on the website, and if your domain is that old I would suggest building links into it asap.

The same technique youd use to build any sites PageRank, build inbound links.

ALthough a pagerank isnt a real good indication of ranking. Just build a good site.

    Good Luck :)

The links won't do any good if there's no content, though. Build the site first, care for it like you would a newborn baby, nurture and protect it, and watch it grow.

Then promote the site and get those inbound links coming in. :)

Is the content on the old domain consistent with the niche that used to be on it earlier ? If not, the people linking to it for the older content may opt to remove their links pointing to the domain.

To build pagerank, you simply need links. Nothing more, nothing less.

I am thinking of building an education site, because I am more into this field. But built it as a blog? Forum? Which will be better?

For educational purposes, I'd go with an article site. Fortunately blogging scripts such as WordPress can handle the job perfectly (not to mention allowing comments for people to offer their advice, field questions and whatnot) on the particular topic you're writing about that day.

if you want to increase the pr of your web site, you need to get some backlinks from high pr web sites.

pr is only related with backlinks
