I don't check my page rank very often but I went from a Pr5 to a Pr6 on the last update (3 months or so ago?). I just checked it again and noticed its down to a PR4. Was there a recent update and why would it drop so much? I did have TLA on the site as well as some ads sold in the footer. My sites pretty big and I haven't noticed any real traffic changes so its not really a major issue. I would just like to know a reason; if anyone could help me out that would be great. Thanks in advance, Jeff
well if you did not used to link to external sites with pr6 then you add say 10 or more links its supposed to go down as your transferring pr to those sites.
I was always under the impression that it devalued the links but didnt make my own pr drop. Is that something new with google or are you just saying that because you think thats the case? BTW, I have had lots of links with other gossip sites, just as many now as I did before on my blogroll.
The experts can chime in but from everything I've read outbound links bleed your PR. I have no idea whether or not 10 would make that big of a difference.
Do you have any link exchange with other site? This might affect your PR if your exchange partner site PR drop. I heard that not only TLA are despised, but also Payperpost
I'm confused....I thought ALL sites' PRs were changed at the same time. So why is the OP's PR changed, but not everyone else's?
PR is different with the new Google system. Blogs for instance are changing more frequently with the new Blog Spiders. I would have to see your site and research it a bit but I would bet that you are either a victim of a high PR site simply removing you, or the links that you do have might be associated with a site that was penalized itself. It could also be a case of stale content, or significally dropped traffic because of the lack of power needed to compete in the search terms that you might have been in and now you're not?? Google bases, and awards PR on a few different factors!! Again, I would have to research the site to draw a real opinion! Good luck!
Did your backlinks dropped also? Pr is calculated through quality backlinks. Gather more backlinks to increase your PR on next update.
I just hear that: <META NAME="Geography" CONTENT="United States"> <META NAME="Language" CONTENT="English"> <META NAME="Expires" CONTENT="never"> can improve your RP do you list in your website???
You may have lost some backlinks with high PR. But, you should not expect PR to remain high all the time. Link building should be a continueous process therfore, I recommend doing that.
1) If some of the sites you have gained backlinks from have been penalized by google their page rank will drop which will also make your page rank drop. 2) There is a possibility that google found out that you were selling links and they penalized you.
