I know writing content based on keywords, then building links is how most people make money on here. There are very successful people here who will read this and say your crazy that's exactly how you do it. What are your conversion rates, 3% or so? That means 97% of people think your site is NOT helpful.

Why would I read your article or top 10 products, click on your link and buy on the spot. I wouldn't. I never have and i never will, neither will 97% of people.

You've probably even got a blog and have some Facebook page. Some people have written thousands of articles or have thousands of backlinks, which have taken years. While I do think content is King, things are changing. Just like when Amazon made it so you can't use their content, those who didn't change where left behind.

I'm not going to give you an alternative, you have to figure that out on your own. I have my method. I just wanted to give my advice to people starting out, don't play Google's game. If your going to spend years of your life won't you want to end up with something other than Toptoasters.com, Romancenovels.net, electronicsdepot.org, or hundreds of blogs.

If you have better ideas, lets hear it. Page rank, emails and directories all are very effective when it comes to SEO.

If you have a good method, why wouldn't you share it? I'm a newbie myself and reading something like this makes me think 'what, so now I have to waste those years searching for the better method?' Probably only to find out that the reason everyone uses page rank, backlinks etc as a means of internet advertising is because it works.

Like I said, I'm new to internet marketing, and am very open to trying new ideas, but saying that a method doesnt work, and saying you have an alternative but then not sharing your knowledge is not good mojo.

rightly said by the poster. Nowadays people tend to questions the old time tested methods just because they take some time in order to show the results

You're right about Page rank, backlinks, directories. Those are useless except for newbies who read something about it and believe they first read. We can make them believe anything. If tomorrow I write an article about SEO saying that if you reload your homepage 3 times everyday you get better and better google ranking, some of them will do it and will spread the thing.
But emails are not useless...I email everyday and it's useful...

No, if your site listed on a lots of directory then each directory give you a lots of visitors even if directory pr is "0"

Also lots of peoples use auto posters means if you list your site on a some directory then auto posters automatically post your link in their site.
