page rank and alexa ranking

    Can someone enlighten me why some members here say it is important and some say those are not important.

    Which is which:confused:...

    I often read that page rank is not important... then one will say it is?

    then I will read that alexa ranking is important after that I can read a post that will state that it is not important.

    anyone who could really enlighten/educAte us about those?

    Some say it is becousde they ar noob or don't know what they talk about ....

    I think both is important if we want to monitor our site.

    Mike you think very wrong

    And i don't think i know from my experience and hundreds of sites i worked on

    PR and alexa are worthless and not reliable to measure anything

    Just keep an open mind. Everything that is there it could be used as tools. It might be not important in some sense but could help you in other sense. Just take a look on the net. There are some people like google some don't. Some think google are good some say google are evil. So who are you going to believe and follow? If you are still new just keep an open mind. Just learn and experience it yourself whether it going to be worthwhile or not.

    PageRank is based on your backlinks. And your backlinks are important for the SERP.
    That means PageRank is important for the SERP indirectly. It's one of the hundreds factors.

    Some people can rank well with their site which do not have good pagerank if th e domian is good.Others need good pagerank to make their site rank well.You'd better take everything serious.

    In my opinion, page rank is important, Alexa ranking is not.
    but High page rank doesn't means it will bring you more visitors.
    I think they should shut down Alexa, it make many people confuse.

    Pagerank and alexa can be used as rough guides for your linking popularity and traffic. They are useful to get some quick information about a site, but can't be used for anything in depth. When advertising on some websites you sometimes need to meet certain minimum requirements, such as you must have a minimum pagerank of 5 to advertise on statcounter.com.

    Pagerank and alexa rank mean nothing in and of themselves. However they, in theory, should give you a rough idea of how popular a website is. The problem is so much time and effort is put in to manipuating them that people forget what they should really be after... getting the right visitors to their websites.

    From my experience good content is the best way to improve a webistes popularity.

    With that being said you should pay attention to pagerank and alexa rankings as great content with no visitors is no good either.

    oh,I think the PR is important than the alexa ranking,as google PR regards the Backlinks and content.

    Good PR and Alexa rank, both can't bring traffic.

    The most important thing is Traffic, and both PR and alexa has no direct relationship with traffic.

    Build lots of back links, this will solve your problem, as you will see a increase in your PR + an increase in search results placement, and after your traffic is increased, your alexa rank will increase too :)
