Had a blog i started in 2008 pumped out about 480 pages and then have not looked at it for the last year. Checked it today and its pagerank 3 homepage. I did almost no seo, content is lousy about a sentence per page, 5 crappy backlinks I have a blog I worked hard on for 5 years lots of seo lots of back links and only pagerank 1 homepage. I do get way more traffic to the low pr one but that is due to lots of good unique content. can anyone explain the rank. I would say the niches saturation is close to the same. same similar competition
I also experienced, after working so hard in a site, it ranks well after I stopped working on it. Probably what I've done before is too much or too many in short time, then as time goes, some of links expire while strong links remains and age good as backlink.
Yes, Some Auto Blog sites at times did get a PR. My site got a PR2 with 0 back links. So, its time to think about Google's statements. They have mentioned that PR is dependent on several factors. May be many of us have very less ideas on the other factors.
I have a site that had PR4 (now PR3) with half a dozen backlinks. Other two PR4 sites have thousands and thousands of backlinks. PR is pretty hit and miss, apparently one really high PR site (in my case it was the yellow pages) REALLY pulls a site up.
good info thanks I should also mention that my page rank 1 site gets 6k page views a day Page rank 3 site gets under 500 so maybe who cares about pr, just keep unique content rolling in and let the traffic stand for the ranking not some silly number from google
PR has absolutely nothing to do with traffic. Three PR4 sites, one with 20K pageviews a day, one with 2K, one with 2.
Pagerank is all about dofollow backlink, as long as those dofollow backlink pass you enough pr juice, your pr will increase. It doesn't matter although your content is crap. However, high pr doesn't mean good serp
It is not about SEO. It is about how often you update your blog or website and with which type of content. Generally, blogs are updated more quickly so get high page rank in shorter time.
the only think that could possibly happened that Google has not reviewed your site recently due to its less popularity. have you checked the latest PR of your blog? i think sooner you will get a bad news form Google.
Just goes to say that the age domain does play a role in the Page rank and the increase of it. You might have some serious backlinking going on as it is the most determining factor that pays in increasing the PR of any site and the ranking.
Like others have said, it's probably the age helping you here. Too many people worry about PR just focus on traffic imo.
Google ranking depends on original and keyword density content and "OnPage" and "OffPage" Optimization.
One of the factors in PR as you have found out is the age of the domain, it seems this ranks pretty highly, but then ofcourse they are other factors, such as its backlinks and the authority of those backlinks
I don't understand why do you even care about PR ? you have traffic! I assume that you are making sales and making money! what else do you want ???
