Page rank 0 hundreds of backlings?

Hey, quick question, i have a proxy that has a few hundred backlinks, and yet its page rank is 0.

orontech.net, on a google search i get over 300 results for orontech.net, and almost as much for www.orontech.net yet my page rank is still 0... can you please explain?

 

How do you exactly check your backlinks?? Based on the tools, I found that you only have 18 backlinks... I think it is good on your side because you've got PR0 with only 18 backlinks.. Some people have more that a thousands but still have PR0 so try no to weaning around and keep on building links..

 

maybe it is a young site

it also depend on the pr of your backlinks , get some high pr websites to link to you

first of i would like to thank all of you for answering.
yeah it seams like yahoo back link shows much less than a google search, i dont really care for the pr of the page as i get allot of traffic that i need, most without search engine, but i was just curious as i never get the page rank, as one of my sites (www.ivylanecottage.com) has pr7 with less than 5 visitors a day, yet sites like orontech getting more than 5K visits a day yet pr0. oy vey i dont get it

do you think i can sell back links on a site like ivylanecottage.com ?

 

How old is your site?

 

PR means very little in the way of determining traffic. Your Alexa Rank is the key.

 

Is it PR7? or My tool bar does not work.

 

PR depends on quality of backlinks as well. Also it may happen that you don't get PR this update, but you can expect some PR in next update.

 

yep age is probably the issue, as all links are probably new, within the last 2 weak at most. (for the orontech.net)
the ivylanecottage is OLD, still not sure if i can get money for links on the page? if so please let me know what the value could be.

 

the conclusion is google is stupid!

 

Maybe they're directory links, which are basically worthless.

I have 5000+ Backlinks for one of my site, and PR is still Zero. The age of a domain, + many other things are counted when it comes to PR calculations.

 

maybe the age of domain is young

 

that search you get for 300's is not all of them are live link. using yahoo siteexplorer it only shows 11 backlinks with I page indexed.

 

100's of backlinks is not that many, also look into the relativeness and pr of those sites who are linking to you. maybe they are no follow links. or maybe pagerank just didnt update yet! maybe ur site is pr 9 and not showing. who knows!

 

From what I know, it depends on unique content, keyword density, age, and quality relevant back links.
