Page or post category that displays sub-categories?

I want to make a post category or page that displays the sub-categories on the category/page rather than the individual posts.

    For instance:

    Blue Widgets (category)
    sub-category 1
    sub-category 2
    sub-category 3

    Green Widgets (category)
    sub-category 1
    sub-category 2
    sub-category 3

And when the user clicks on the Blue Widgets category then sub-category 1, sub-category 2 and sub-category 3 are displayed on the page (with a short description if possible).

Is there a plugin for this, or can the files be modified?

    Thanks

There is no any plugin for it. You can make sub-cat easily.

    Go to post-->categories.

Make a category e.g "Blue Widgets"

Make another cat and select "Blue Widgets" as a parent cat.

    And done.

And when the user clicks on the Blue Widgets category then sub-category 1, sub-category 2 and sub-category 3 are displayed on the page - not the posts.

It works, but I was hoping for something more automatic. If I do it this way I'll need to manually add the hyperlinks to the page and description. And it won't be included in the rss feed (probably a plugin for that though). I'll do that I guess, but kind of a hassle to have to manually link them and test it though. :(

    Thanks

Just realized the page won't be in the rss feed, but the posts will. I just need to add them to the page manually. The post's 'page" will still be included in the feed which is what I was concerned about.

    Thanks again
