Where are you based? I am getting both 'joomla tutorial' and 'joomla 1.5 tutorial' at page one in Google #7 # 10, I am based in the UK
Search results vary depending on the location of the searcher. A site may no. 1 in the U.S., but not in South Africa.
traffic is poor although the searches for both of these keywords are approx' 7000/8000 per month estimate on Google. The primary reason for this is that the title and excerpt used for Google are not properly optimised, in fact the whole site is not properly optimised; and thats my bad. The partner who is also a coder has used a custom blogging platform created for Joomla 1.5 and this needs more work on it and one of those aspects is SEF urls and the site generally needs to be SEOptimised.
Sure, and I think it needs to be stressed that SEO is elemental and is not and should not be exposed as being complicated. There are simple formulas that should be followed that most people even as a novice can capture and work towards getting good if not excellent ranking without complexities or fear that it is something that they can not get a handle on. The ultimate learning for me here is that 'I can be confident' in working towards ranking my sites for the SE without the need of 3rd parties and 3rd party support is needed to save on time as a resource.
@innet I have seen that most of your backlinks towards your website are nofollow and now your site ranks on #
Hi, Congratulations To bad your competition wasnt showing 3.5 mil after adding "quotes" to your keyword See example below http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q="joomla+tutorial"&btnG=Search The results only come in at 86k That's how you really check the actual competition for your targeted keywords. I really dont think its that hard to get up there on keywords with little competition, especially if you know what your doing. Peace..
Thanks for the heads up and this is a really good pointer. I see another keyword that I am attempting to rank for has 3.5m after "quotes" therefore I think this strategy will not be enough to rank high for that term. I did get to number #15 in Google for it, but it dropped out completely and I do not know why. What would you suggest as an additional method to assist in the ranking for competitive keywords? Social bookmarking? Squidoo type pages with cross linking?
but joomla tutorial is a highly insignificant keyword. It's searchers are too minimun. You know, having a great number of sites in search results doesnt meant that the keyword is competitive. How many visitors do you get daily?
yes you are right and the traffic is low. But we are getting 1000s of opt-in once they download our free login extension that I designed and on the backend we will be selling a subscription based 'joomla tutorial' service. So although the traffic is low the numbers are adding up. As a long term strategy we are looking at 500 paying subscribers per month and as an addition we have some really advance extensions coming out. The target from this site after another 4 years is $500,000 per annum income.
Nice work inet as your response to vjlenin, low traffic doesnt matter main thing is they are targeted and your are getting opt-ins. Good work keep it up and update your results. I would suggest create new content for Squidoo lens, hub pages and other sources like this and social bookmark this pages.
thanks for the response. I will actually be looking into the social bookmarking first since it is cheaper, then the squidoo type content building. i say cheaper since I am looking to build a list of service providers that can carry out this work for me as ultimately want to outsource all the work.
Hey congrats and I also rank on first page for 5 million results. I know it really sounds great. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=rdbms&btnG=Google+Search
Would you care to share some tips for the readers please. Some practical steps that they can take to achieve the results. thanks
