Page Not Found Cause Not There

I bought a domain and after adding google sitemap, google stats found there are about 1000 pages "Not Found" due to them not being there anymore. ( I Re-Did Site)

Is there something I can do to "drop" them out of google or will this take care of itself? Does it hurt me?

 

you could list every page in robots.txt for googlebot then use google's removal tool.

 

it will eventually drop them out, one thing you can do is redirect (301 redirect) the old pages to relevant new ones, sounds like a lot of work I know but will help keep traffic from any SE rankings those pages had (if any).
