I read somewhere that google is more receptive to sites whose individual pages contain atleast a three number long numerical in its name...for example www.domainname.com/12345...what i want to know is can i start the number randomly and then go on in a sequence? like can i start with 24598 and then continue naming in descending order? thanks
I don't think numbers in url helps in SEO at all.. unless the Google users are querying for numbers Although Google does consider the characters in url to allocate relevancy, numbers do not have much meaning in them.
I read it in the "for publishers" note in google news. They were very clear saying that if the name of the file does not have a 3 digit number then they are not going to recognise it. Is it same for google?
Don't worry, that only applies to Google news bots There are reasons why forums start to change their numbering to characters / wording threads format.
This is weird. It probably has something to do with the fact that google-news needs to crawl websites for new information extremely quickly - given that news changes so quickly. It certainly doesn't apply to the normal google - or my site would not be found at all
