Page loading time too long, can I preload all the scripts?

    My website at www.drachsi.com is based on a Template I purchased, and then modified over time to do what I want it to do. The problem is, the page takes too long to download.

    I thought maybe to create a new home page with simple image and text, and while people read this, all the other scripts, css, etc., could be downloaded in the background ready for the visitor to move into the site.

    I don't know, but have been told my page is about 25k but all the other stuff is over a meg.

    Appreciate any help or advise.

    Brilliant. Thanks very much, now to study and work on the suggestions.

    The first one I plan is the "Leverage Browser Caching" Is it correct to put this in every page <META HTTP-EQUIV="EXPIRES" CONTENT="Mon, 31 Dec 2012 21:00:00 GMT">

    This will solve some of the problems for repeat visitors.
