Am I correct in thinking to check if a page is indexed in google, I just put the url of the page into the google search box and if a result comes up then it is indexed, and if no result comes up then it is not indexed. thanks
No,you need to use the site command..like this http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=site:www.digitalpoint.com&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8
but you could do this yeh: http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=http://www.digitalpoint.com/tips/&btnG=Google+Search&meta=
You should also check the cached date. That will give you an idea of how fresh the content is and how much Google cares about it.
however, ive often seen cases where a page is cached but doesn't show up in the serps and once i saw a case where a page shows up in the serps but is not cached...
e.g. this page: http://www.casinocashjourney.co.uk/links3(dot)htm it comes up in google when you just put it in the search box, but not when you put "site:" in front of it. is it indexed?
